What I saw at the Fashion and Innovation Event 2012!

Last night I ventured out to Munro House in Leeds to have a peek at an event put on by the Fashion & Innovation students from the Leeds College of Art, to showcase their final projects.

Munro House houses the very cool Duke Studios, where creative companies such as Hebe Media and Rabbit Hole are currently based, so it was the perfect location for this fashionable affair. There were some amazing collections on show, from intricate leather jackets to bags made out of recycled rubber, with each collection showcasing its own clear branding. From personalised clothes hangers to sleek printed brochures and business cards, the overall brand identities of the projects were unique, with Reclaim and Alias being my favourite.

To give you a feel for the evening, think innovative styling, seriously cool haircuts and an eclectic mix of people. The make shift bar was serving various concoctions all served in jam jars. I opted for a childhood favourite, an Um Bongo laced with a splash of Rum for a more grown up taste. I wittily renamed it the Rum Bongo, however the bar man was not quite as impressed as I had hoped. It’s perhaps because I went on about how I’d merged Rum and Um in case he hadn’t quite got it the first, second and third time. Or maybe he was a bit gutted he didn’t come up with it.

Anyway! Here’s a look at the collections, which was is your favourite?
