So so wrong. Yep definitely wrong. God they’re just so…right? No, wrong. Hmmm.
If you’ve seen the hidden heel high tops you’ll know exactly what I mean and if you haven’t…well be prepared to be undecided.
These £40 River Island high tops look like normal trainers from the outside but on the inside there is a hidden wedge, giving you the height of a heel but the appearance of a casual shoe.
Unsure if you like them? Yep me too.
Isabel Marrant’s ‘Bekett’ high top, seen below at Paris Fashion Week, is now sold out globally and the waiting list for them is getting bigger everyday. So what is the draw of the secret heel?
Well the confusing thing is, they actually make a lot of sense. Heels make your legs look longer and obviously make you appear taller (those who read regularly will know I am a measly 5ft 3 and constantly talking about leg lengthening!). Alongside these obvious benefits, even when I’m wearing just a little heel my posture is better and I generally feel like I’m ready to go out. But sometimes you look like a bit of a wally tottering around the supermarket, so this is where the heeled high tops come in. You look casually dressed but have the confidence of a heel.
So maybe they’re a good idea. But realistically they’re a bit silly. But then if you actually think about it…
I will never stop feeling undecided about these. Your thoughts?
