I have things in my wardrobe that lie dormant and unseen, pushed further into the depths of my ridiculous excuse for storage, completely forgotten about due to exciting new things that have made their way in there. The more items that become hidden, the more I forget about the odd little gem that’s under the hanger of an old shirt or stuffed at the back of the drawer.
But, oh the joy when you rediscover them!
Dress, Miss Selfridge//Necklace & Sandals, Primark//Satchel, Vintage
I bought this dress from Miss Selfridge over a year ago, wore it on holiday once and then lost it to my pile of clothes rubble. When I first saw it I fell in love with the unusual texture of the material, the double layer, the slightly pleated hem and the way it hangs. The sheen on the fabric looks so beautiful in the sun and feels delicate to wear, all the reasons why it was the perfect holiday dress. Wearing it reminded me of good times and one too many cocktails in a faraway, exotic land…
Alright, it was an all inclusive holiday in Turkey but you know the feeling I mean!
Finding this again has inspired me to try and sort out all my clothes and give them some form of order. Maybe I could photograph each item and create a super efficient database of clothes or create an app to do it for me? Ideas on a postcard please.
Do you have lots of hidden gems in your wardrobe too?
