With any epic hen do, this one comes in two parts!
With a Karaoke induced croaky voice and a slightly fuzzy head, I headed straight to the kitchen of our gorgeous apartment to refuel the old body. We all need a little Well Woman once in a while.
After a hearty American breakfast of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup, we pulled on our best activity clothes and set off for a treasure hunt around Edinburgh.
It’s such a beautiful city, with so much to see and do.
After 2 hours of landmarks to find, challenges to complete and faux Scottish accents (don’t ask), we headed to eteaket for Afternoon Tea. Gorgeous sandwiches, huge scones, bite sized pastries and Millionaire’s Shortbread, washed down with White Peach tea, was just what I needed.
With our bellies full and in need of a nap, we headed back to the apartment to prepare ourselves for the evening ahead.
There was a strict dress code: Sparkle!
With our sparkles firmly on, we headed to an amazing little Italian restaurant for Prosecco and great food. The sirloin steak risotto was amazing…
With the sensible part over, we hit the bars of Edinburgh to cause trouble! When the clock struck midnight, we headed over to a little club called Lola Lo to dance the night away.
Then things got a little silly…
We danced, sang and stayed out until the wee hours, before heading home and to eat alarmingly huge slices of cheesecake before bed. What more could you want from a night out?
With a few hours to burn the next day, we wandered around the city and came across a gem of a place.
Mary herself whipped up our Raspberry Ripple ice cream milkshakes and had us all cooing over her vintage decor. You can find Mary’s Milk Bar at 19 Grassmarket, it’s well worth a visit!
With our little legs and bodies tired out from a weekend of pure brilliance, we lay on the grass lapping up the sun before boarding our jam-packed minibus back to Leeds.
If this is what a hen do is like, I want to do one every weekend!
