When my alarm went off at 6am on Friday morning and I promptly leapt around on the bed in my jim-jams, I knew the day had finally come.
It was officially #JenDo time!
Ok, let me explain. We were about to embark on an epic weekend to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of my lovely friend, Jen to her other half, Rob. Hen do – Jen do, we were into this in a big way!
After driving out to a beautiful proper Yorkshire village for a pre-hen do breakfast, we bundled into a minibus armed with games, cupcakes and champagne for our journey up to Edinburgh.
Lil and I felt it was our duty to Instagram every nibble and drink that touched our lips. It’s the bloggers in us.
After a rowdy 4 hour journey and only a hint of reading-induced travel sickness (I’m like a small child), we arrived at No19 The Apartment, the most gorgeous luxury accomodation.
Each room was exquisitely decorated with fluffy pillows, matching furnishings and beautiful furniture.
We even had this little guy to snack on after too much dancing.
With beds a-plenty, we chose our rooms and set ourselves up for a weekend of fun and frolics.
With our dresses hung up and ready for a weekend of pure girl time, we strolled down to Leo’s Beanery for delicious sandwiches and creamy coffees before our first surprise activity.
We were given only one clue: dress for shimmying!
After eating 10 sandwiches over the recommended amount for physical exercise, I popped on my dancing shoes whilst trying to figure out what we’d be doing and whether I needed to pack some nipple tassels after all…
We hopped in a taxi and arrived at a dance studio to find out that we were about to do *drum roll please*…
..a Beyoncé dancing lesson! That’s right, we were going to learn the Single Ladies dance and forever be pulling it out as a party trick and dance in unison like that scene in Honey.
We shook our asses, clicked our fingers and overall, completely nailed it. Ok, in our heads we were great and I’m pretty sure the dance teacher was laughing with us not at us. ish.
After sweating it out B-style, I was in need of a nice refreshing drink.
This was the obvious choice!
After a hearty Mexican feast, our Sex and the City themed evening began.
Meet Carrie and Samantha!
A Butler in the Buff paid us a visit, showed off his abs and caused Jen to awkwardly dance away from his naked body as the obligatory hen do willies came out…
After a blur of karaoke, cocktails, dancing and a very strong final G&T, we crawled our way up to bed ready for another adventure.
#JenDo to be continued…
