Versace for H&M hit the high street today and it was certainly a case of blink and you’ll miss it.
I strolled into H&M in Leeds to find just one lonely Versace dress on the rails. This particular store sold out by 11am with hoards of shoppers turning up to grab a piece of the designer brand.
Dubbed the Knightsbridge of the North and recently voted the Best Student City by The Independent, Leeds takes pride in it’s love and knowledge of fashion, yet the city centre store was only allotted a small collection of 400 pieces. Despite being home to stores such as Harvey Nichols, Vivienne Westwood and Ben Sherman Plectrum, it still feels like London is the only place to warrant wristband entry, 10 minute shopping slots, queues of people in barriers and indeed the appearance of Donatella herself.
Here’s to hoping Leeds can grow into a city that creates the same kind of buzz around a fashion event.
